Wallet setup
WayHand is paid in USDC, a digital dollar. You need a wallet to hold it. Setup takes about ten minutes, once.
Four things to know first
If you have never used crypto, start here. These four words are all you need.
Wallet
Your account on the blockchain. It has a public address, like a bank account number you can share, and a secret recovery phrase that only you may know. Never tell the phrase to anyone, not even support.
Network (Polygon)
The road your money travels on. The same coin on a different network is not the same money. Always choose Polygon. Money sent on the wrong network can be lost for good.
USDC
A digital dollar: one USDC is worth about one US dollar, and its price stays close to that. This is the money you pay with and receive.
POL
The small fee coin of Polygon. Every move on the network costs a tiny fee, paid in POL. In this app a service pays it for you, so you need no POL to post, pay, submit or confirm. You need a little only to send your USDC out of your wallet, for example to an exchange; when an errand ends well, the service may send a small thank-you amount for that. It is not the money you pay with.
Where your money goes
The Polygon network: every arrow above travels on it, and each move costs a tiny fee paid in POL.
Get a wallet
Install a wallet app or browser extension such as MetaMask. It gives you a secret recovery phrase when you start. Write it on paper and keep it to yourself. Nobody from WayHand or OPUS will ever ask for it.
Connect it
Press “Connect wallet” at the top right and approve in your wallet. Then press “Sign in” and sign the short message. Signing only proves the wallet is yours. It costs nothing and moves no money.
On a phone, open this site from the browser inside your wallet app (for example, the MetaMask app's built-in browser). A normal phone browser cannot reach your wallet.
Or press “Use a phone wallet” on the sign-in card. Scan the code with your wallet app, or approve the request in it, and WayHand connects without a browser extension.
This service runs on a test network for now. Its setup (add the network, get free test coins) is in the menu: Test network →
Stay safe
- Never share your recovery phrase or private key. WayHand, OPUS and wallet makers never ask for them.
Words used here
- POL: the coin that pays the small network fee for each wallet step. In this app the service pays it for you.
- Wallet: an app that holds your coins and signs steps for you. Signing in with it is your login.
If something goes wrong
No wallet found: install one, then reload this page. Wrong network: press “Switch network” in the wallet menu. A step fails: try again. You need a little POL only if the fee-paying service is switched off. Still stuck: your money stays in the escrow until the errand ends, so nothing is lost by waiting.
